Drum & Story Circle

  • Hairpin Arts Center 2810 North Milwaukee Avenue Chicago, Illinois, 60618 United States (map)

We gather here to share in community.  We beat the drum, whistle a tune, and tell our tales.

Connect to your primal self, howling beneath the moon, and share your myths, stories, successes and failures, for all are a part of life as we know it.

All are welcome at Drum & Story Circle and all will be welcomed.  We gather in a substance-free environment at the 8 Celtic festivals marking the Wheel of the Year - every quarter and cross-quarter turning of the sun and moon in celebration of life’s movements.  To recognize the seasons of nature within ourselves, however that looks for each of us, and we hold space for all no matter what you practice (or don’t).

We sing, we dance, we make joyful noise.

At Samhain, our joyful noise celebrates the quieting of life on the planet, the depths of the harvest, the slow descent of Autumn into Winter.

We gather on November 12, as Samhain was traditionally celebrated at the 2nd new moon after Autumn Equinox.  So let’s keep the Halloween party going.

** Bring your noisemakers: your drums, rattles, voices, or other instruments

** Bring your stories that celebrate the season: the myths and legends of your ancestors, your personal stories or writings, and for Samhain, your ghost stories.  Some prompts if you need them: What does this time of year mean to you?  When did you experience a time of release or shedding?

** And if you like, bring a snack or other tasty morsel to share with the group

We will open and close the circle with a Druid blessing for peace, but please come and go as you are able.
